Just wondering.. Did anyone else here randomly think of SigilBroken’s In This Light while watching Oberyn scene (and sobbing over it despite having seen it coming)? You know, it’s this part in the beginning of the fic where Brienne champions for Jaime (well yeah practically for Cersei but seriously) against Ser Robert Strong.

I just can’t help wondering what it’ll be like if that particular part of this btw incandescently perfect fic happens in canon somehow, someday. I can’t help imagining Jaime watching Brienne facing the allegedly reanimated corpse of the very monster who once squished Oberyn Martell’s head like a beetle before Jaime’s own eyes. I can’t help imagining the memories of The Mountain’s thumbs jamming into Oberyn’s eye sockets, of Oberyn’s teeth scattering on the ground, of Oberyn’s blood and brain splattering out of his ruined skull, and of Ellaria’s screams relentlessly flood Jaime’s mind. I can’t help imagining Jaime picturing Brienne in Oberyn’s place, picturing Brienne’s astonishing blue eyes shattering while all he can do is watch, and inwardly asking himself whether he’ll scream the way Ellaria did if things truly come that way. And for the love of God obviously I at last imagine that moment when Brienne eventually prevails and then lives happily ever after with Jaime. (not before fighting for humanity against The Others, becoming legends and doing lots of other interesting stuffs together, that is)

Idk I guess I’ve just made everything a hundred times worse than it’s already been. I’m sorry, I just.. I can’t with these feels.

The fascinating thing about Game of Thrones is that none of the badasses are just badasses, and none of the wimps are just wimps. A coward will surprise you with courage, and a very powerful person will blindside you with weakness, and the most evil person is capable of the most compassionate moment.
